a soft place to rest your head and dream......

Lots of new pillows & softies up in both of my shops!
I've been busy sewing AND taking photos for you! And having fun dreaming up cloud pillows in different color variations.

I just love the idea of dreams.

Dreams are, on the one hand, those bits and pieces of another world you remember when you wake up in the morning. My little brother and I would always share our dreams with each other at breakfast. I miss that now that we are grown-up and live so far apart. Now and then we still e-mail each other our dreams. Sometimes I know exactly what the symbols in my dreams mean, but not always. If I ever feel I have my head in the clouds, I think of the stories in the Old Testament where dreams are interpreted and am reminded that dreams really are important.

"To dream is to transcend time."
-Anthony J. W. Benson

On the other hand, there is the meaning of dream as in a grand vision, a meaningful goal, a yearning and desire to make something change or happen.

"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you've imagined." --Thoreau

While making these pillows, I thought how lovely for a child to have this not only this little reminder to dream big and shoot for the stars, but also the reminder to be still and to look within.

"Trust the dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity."
-Kahil Gibran

Dreams are important!

Valentine's Day crafts

Valentine's Day is right around the corner! This weekend I am going to spend some time with my children making some Valentine's crafts. Here are some ideas that have caught me eye.

For toddlers:
Aren't these melted crayon hearts a fun idea?We have so many crayon pieces! My kids aren't toddlers anymore but I think this project is fun for all ages. In fact this might actually get them coloring again and I believe crayons aren't just for little kids!
Another pretty idea are these Valentine's hearts made with melted crayons and waxed paper.
Potato stamps are great project for children of all sizes. My children love stamping anything!

For older children:
My sons would love getting these lollypop butterflies. They might enjoy making them, too!

For teens:
These Valentine Straw Toppers are so cute, I think any teen girl would have fun making them.
I know my daughter would love making these cute salt-dough magnets, too. What a great little gift for her girlfriends (or mom!)!
Check out my pin board for more lovely Valentine's Day inspiration!

What's inspiring you right now?

How could time escape like this? My last post was in October!

I admit I do sometimes wish I could hibernate all winter like our forest friends! But believe me, I haven't been snuggled under warm blankets during my blog absence but working away in my studio, busy sewing and coming up with new ideas.

Some ideas turn out delightful & as the days get lighter and longer I'm able to take better photos and re-stock my shops. Still not quite as bright as I'd like, but I will take what I can get!

Right now I'm inspired by bright bold colors and soft gingham prints. And hearts!

What's inspiring you right now?
