bunny tote

For my little Goddaughter's birthday this month I sewed her a pretty tote bag. She is a  huge fan of rabbits- actually a lover of all animals - so I thought this would be just perfect for her. I'm going to have to bring my camera next time I visit her, she has the sweetest little (real!) bunnies you have ever seen! Really real, in the "Velveteen Rabbit" way!

I used a beautiful simple linen and a gorgeous gypsy print from the Dutch fabric makers Stenzo. Their fabrics are soooo delicious! The nice thing about this tote is that it is reversible, so my bunny-loving friend can switch it around according to her mood.

I love how it turned out! I will be making more of these in various fabrics and adding them to my etsy and dawanda shops - which are both in dire need of restocking - I will post my shop updates!
This cute bunny got a little yoyo-cotton-tail as a final detail. Sweet and simple, just how I like things :)
Hope it's too rainy and cold in your part of the world, we are still patiently waiting for spring sunshine here. Have a lovely day!

rainbows don't wait

I always stop whatever I'm doing
to view a glowing rainbow with awe
and share it with all around me.
Wishing you a lovely, colorful weekend full of
beautiful moments and good promises :)

hope patchwork

This pretty little patchwork blanket is en route to Romania!
Thanks to my friend Rachel, who sewed a beautiful berry quilt for this project (see it here), I discovered Project Hope's Rally for Roma. I made this blanket using some cute retro bedsheets (which I found at the thrift shop) as well as various new fabrics - so it is actually a bit of an eco-friendly blanket, too! I referred to Alicia Paulson's book "Stitched in Time" for very helpful instructions, especially about hand-sewing the binding.
I truly hope this brings some prettiness and warmth to a child's life.
There is a quote that just says it all on the Craft Hope website: "You don't need a reason to help people."  I am looking forward to seeing the launch of the next project in a few days!

Have a beautiful day!

Thank you, dear mom

(...this post is dedicated to all mothers, but especially to my own dear mom....)

she who plants her garden

I recently came across this quote which is hanging in a flower shop in France:

"Qui plante son jardin plante son bonheur"

"She who plants her garden plants her happiness."

This is so true!

The flowers and blooms and new life in our garden bring so much joy, not just to me, but to all people and many little creatures, furry or feathered or shiny or fluttery. A new energy fills every being. All the senses are awakened. I am truly happy spring has finally arrived.
Have a wonderful day!
